Every Thursday morning at Yaldhurst Model School the bus arrives at 8:20 a.m to take us Year 7 & 8's to Lincoln Primary School for Technology/Manual.
This year we have 5 subjects, Cooking, Hard Materials, 3D Printing/Design, Textiles, and Science, we have 8 weeks at each subject.
We had a change over for the third time this year and now am in Textiles/Sewing.
Yesterday was our first lesson in sewing and for some of us who have never touched a sewing machine before it was kind of confusing, but I guess that's what the lessons are for so that we can learn and get better at it.
Have you ever done any of these subjects?
Can you sew?
I almost forgot, we have to create something of our own choice to sew in sewing, I'm really stuck on ideas and would appreciate some advice from you guys!
Please comment and give me some inspiration, maybe a photo or something would be really helpful!

I used to love going to Manual when I was your age Nikita. Our subjects were similar; Woodwork, Metalwork, Art, Cooking & Sewing...I loved Art the best! I can kind of sew - my Mum used to help me a lot. :) I have some ideas for you for sewing. Check out these links (I can't seem to copy and paste the photos)...

I love your comment that lessons are for learning to improve at something. Sadly I can only sew on a button as when I was your age manual (as it was called then) was bifurcated on the grounds of what was thought to be gender appropriate. Thus I can only sew on a button. Thankfully attitudes have changed now. I look forward to seeing your sewing creations. I look forward to your next blog post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mr Robertson,
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly does bifurcated mean in this instance?
