We should all Travel!

Image result for kids speech clipart
Hi everyone, I'm sure most of you know that this Term is all about Speeches!

I struggled to come up with a topic and then struggled to write it, but with some help and google search I have managed to create an amazing speech about why we all should travel!

2 days ago on the 21st, a librarian came to our school to judge the top 3 in each year groups speeches.
I was chosen to be in the top 3 and came 2nd out of the Year 8's. (Yay!)

Have you written a speech?
Did you go to a speech compitition?
Have you won anything?

I'd like to know more about how your speeches went and also have those questions answered if you can!

See you next blog post!

What is 'Netiquette'?

Hi everyone,
Todays post is about Digital Etiquette; or Netiquette.

Do you know what Netiquette is?
Netiquette is the do's & dont's of online communication; or anything Digital really.

Watch this video which explains very clearly the do's & dont's of Digital Communication:

So... what do you think?
Have you been using Netiquette?

What were the main points highlighted in that video?
If we all use Netiquette the digital world will be a better safer place, and we will have a very clean and positive digital footprint.

My Visual Mihimihi

Hi everyone, in this blog post I will tell you guys about what we have created during the first two weeks of school.
My class have created Visual Mihimihis. We have learnt about how to write our Mihi, and found out about the places that are special to us and where we are from.
We also were shown examples of a Visual Mihimihi, which is on an A3 piece of paper and has 3 main things on it:

  1. A self portrait or a photo
  2. Places that are special to us
  3. Symbols or photos of things that represent our culture.

I found it a bit difficult to find things to draw onto my Visual Mihimihi, and also keeping with my theme of drawing everything that I add to it definitely slowed me down... A LOT!
But I am happy with my finished product, and think it was a fun way to start the year.
This would accompany our Mihi, which we recorded and used as a voice over for our Visual Mihimihi.

Please watch, enjoy, and comment about what I have created!

Improve My Long Jump

This is my long jump 20 October 2015: Click here to watch the slomo!

I am practicing for athletics day on Friday.
Our teacher has videoed us so we can analyze our own jumps.
We have picked up some tips when watched a video of what a professional long jump looks like.
This is what the long jump process is:

Run up: Constancy, and to be able to stay on the same place every time you run down.
Your speed needs to be really fast all the way down so that you get momentum when you jump.

Take off: There is a bit before you jump where your hips sink, use that to push off and with your free knee, and lift it up to get high in the air.

Flight: There are different types of flight. One when you push off sail through the air, and when you move your feet like a running motion through the air

Landing: At the end push your legs in front of you, and then pull your body through the air towards your feet.
